Ground Transportation
Buses and vans have been organized to transport Tri-National Agricultural Accord delegates and their companions between the Calgary International Airport and the Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff. They will run regularly during August 8, 9 and 12 and as needed on August 10 and 11.

If you are flying in and out of Calgary International, here's what to do:

Upon Landing in Calgary
If you are on an international flight and must pass through Canada Customs and International Arrivals, you will see the desk for our bus company, Airport Shuttle Express, immediately outside the doors as you leave the Customs area. (That is, the Airport Shuttle Express is located in the main terminal, arrivals level, meeting area C). Airport Shuttle Express staff and workers from Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development will be at the desk to greet you, provide information on the bus schedule for Banff, take your luggage for loading on the bus, and show you to the White Hat Lounge where you can wait for your bus. Passengers will also be escorted to their bus from the White Hat Lounge.

If you are on a domestic flight and have difficulty finding the "Airport Shuttle Express" desk on the arrivals level, main terminal, meeting area C, stop at a Visitor Information kiosk and ask for directions.

To Depart Banff for the Calgary International Airport
Our buses and vans will run regularly throughout the day between the Rimrock Resort Hotel and the Calgary International Airport following the Closing Ceremonies on Saturday, August 12 Delegates requiring transportation to the Airport on August 10 or 11 should go to the Accord meeting administration office (The Boardroom, level 6, South Wing, Rimrock Hotel) to arrange a departure time by van.

Remember! If you are on an international flight, you must check in at the airport at least two hours before departure. The trip from the Rimrock Resort Hotel to the airport takes approximately two hours.

We have block booked rooms at the Delta Calgary Airport for the evenings of August 12 for delegates wishing to stay overnight in Calgary before departing. Phone (1-877-814-7706 or 403-250-6000) to reserve a room.

Vehicle Rentals
Car rentals are available at the Calgary International Airport and in Banff.

The Rental Car Centre at the Calgary Airport is located on the departures level, across the road from the main terminal building. Car rental companies with cars available for pick-up at the airport operate out of the Rental Car Centre. The off-airport car rental companies provide courtesy shuttle service to their rental locations.

How to get to the Rimrock Resort Hotel from Calgary International Airport

  • When leaving Calgary International Airport, take Barlow Trail South for about 5 km (3 miles). You will go through approximately 4 traffic lights.
  • Take the 16th Avenue exit and at the intersection, turn right (west) toward Banff. Note that 16th Avenue is also known as the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway #1).
  • Follow 16th Avenue West through the city of Calgary.
  • At the west edge of Calgary, 16th Avenue becomes Highway 1 West. Follow Highway 1 West for about 1 hour until you have passed the town of Canmore.
  • Stop at the Banff National Park gates and obtain a park pass ($12.00Cdn).
  • After the Park gates keep following Highway 1 West.
  • There are two Banff exits on the Trans-Canada Highway. Ignore the first exit (Lake Minnewanka), and take the second exit into Banff. This exit is called Banff/Mount Norquay. The exit is on the right hand side of the highway. At the stop sign, turn left and take the overpass toward the town of Banff. When you enter the townsite, you will be on Banff Avenue.
  • Follow Banff Avenue through town and across the Bow Valley Bridge, then immediately merge right on to Mountain Avenue.
  • After approximately 5 minutes, you will see the Rimrock Resort Hotel on your left.
